Taipei: MAI Foundation, 2004. Item #33
This volume is an illustrated catalogue of a joint exhibition of Yixing (Zisha) teapots collections of the MAI Foundation and the Nanjing Museum, which has one of the most important holdings. The exhibits include ninety works, including those from the Ming and Qing dynasties unearthed in the provinces of Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei. Yixing (Zisha) teapots have been treasured by collectors as well as faked by forgers.
This is the first time so many excavated teapots in the Ming and Qing dynasties with precise historical records are displayed, offering valuable chance for research. The exhibition not only includes old teapots, but also include works by other renowned comtemporary artists to give a broad variety of these wonderful wares. Extensive essays and descriptions are available in both Chinese and English.
