Catalogue of Bronze Seals in the Art Museum, Chinese University of Hong Kong Volume 3

The University of Hong Kong

Written by Wong Yan Chung and edited by Yau Hok-wah. Catalogue of the Art Museum Collections, No. 8. It shows 333 personal seals from the Art Museum collection, 332 of the Han and 1 of the Jin dynasty. The principal material used is bronze, but a small number is made of silver, jade and bone. The majority of the Han seals are carved with personal names while a few samples are carved with images, auspicious phrases, sealing marks and Taoist emblems. Each seal is reproduced in black and white with the impression in vermilion, as well as decipherments and other relevant information. There is an article on the theme of seals of this period.
