Double Beauty: Qing Dynasty Couplets from the Lechangzai Xuan Collection

The University of Hong Kong

As a popular art form of the Qing dynasty, couplets are representative of the period calligraphy. The exhibits are selected from the fine collection of Mr. Harold Wong, master of the Lechangzai Xuan and a renowned landscape painter and connoisseur on Chinese painting and calligraphy. In the catalogue are 150 couplets in full colour with detailed bilingual description. The entries are prepared by graduate students from the University of California at Santa Barbara, the Maryland University and the National Taiwan Normal University. The four scholarly essays are contributed by Jason Kuo from the Maryland University, Ronald Egan and Peter Sturman from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and Harold Mok from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
